Hello, there! Well, you may have noticed that I’ve been a bit quiet for the last few months. Don’t worry, dear reader, I have certainly not forgotten you. Quite the opposite, in fact, because the longer I took a break from writing, the more I thought about it! Despite my growing wish to write, my new job has kept me quite occupied!
Now, you may be wondering, “What is Chloë’s new job?” I have, for the last two months, been working for The Walt Disney Company. (Surprise!) Before I launch into everything, though, I believe you deserve a small backstory.
In September, I applied for the Spring 2015 session of The Disney College Program. By November, I received an email stating I’d been offered the role of Concierge at Walt Disney World, in Orlando! Needless to say, I was quite excited about it!
And that brings us to now (kind of). I began my program on January 26, and will finish on May 15. I can’t believe it’s been over two months that I’ve lived here! So far, I have worked at both the front desk and concierge at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, bought a car, laughed, cried, and experienced living and breathing Disney!
Now, I don’t live alone here in Orlando. In fact, I have two lovely roommates, as you can tell by the pictures above! We have had so much fun visiting the parks hotels (we have a goal of visiting every resort and going on every ride), meeting the characters, and taking advantage of the wonderful opportunity we’ve been given.
To be honest, dear reader, I wasn’t going to share this experience on the blog. But, one of my best friends convinced me that my readers would be interested in this, because it’s a part of my life. And, if my blog doesn’t reflect my life, it loses a bit of it’s authenticity. So, I would love to bring you along on the remainder of my journey here at Disney World (and the surrounding area)!
If you have any questions about the program, from the interview process to the living situations to the benefits, don’t hesitate to leave a comment!
I hope you are having a wonderful spring season so far!
-Chloë
And now, here are a few more pictures from my time here so far…
Ride Pictures
With our park passes, my roommates and I often go to the parks for a few hours, meeting characters and people-watching! My favorite character experience is when we got to meet Baymax and Hiro from Big Hero 6. I had never been this excited to meet a character before (I even took my mini-Baymax with me to meet them)! As you can tell from the expressions on my face, I was simply giddy with excitement when we finally made it through the 45-minute line. (Hugging Baymax is exactly like hugging an enormous marshmallow but 100 times better!)
So cute!!
